I know that there are plenty healthier takes on Snickers out there, but this one is inspired by their peanut butter version — and these Chocolate-Covered Peanut Butter Date Bars are truly delicious!
I’ll be honest, I wouldn’t call them a “healthier Snickers” because they don’t taste exactly the same. But the idea came to be when I had a peanut butter Snickers, so it’s only fair to give credit where it’s due.
The dates bring a rich, caramel-like sweetness, while the chopped peanuts (a great suggestion from my little sister — thanks for that!) add the perfect crunch. The dark chocolate sets a satisfying contrast, and the peanut butter… well, who doesn’t love creamy peanut butter paired with these flavors?
So if you love peanut butter, chocolate, and dates, you should definitely try these! They’re easy to make, irresistibly good, and perfect for whenever you need a sweet treat.

Ingredients for 10 bars (45 g each)
- 150 g dates
- 50 g peanuts
- 100 g creamy peanut butter
- 150 g chocolate
- Sea salt
Recipe

I. Prepare the Ingredients
- Remove the pits from the dates and chop them into small pieces.
- Optionally, toast the peanuts in a skillet over medium heat with a sprinkle of salt for extra flavor.
- Finely chop the peanuts.

II. Layer the Ingredients
- In a bowl, combine the chopped dates and peanuts with a pinch of sea salt.
- Transfer the mixture to a parchment-lined dish (approximately 10 x 15 cm/4 x 6 in) and press it down firmly until it holds together.
- Pour the peanut butter over the top and spread it evenly.
- Place in the freezer for at least 1 hour.

III. Melt the Chocolate
- Fill a small saucepan with a bit of water and bring it to a gentle simmer.
- Meanwhile, break or chop the chocolate into small pieces.
- Place a heatproof bowl over the saucepan, ensuring it doesn’t touch the simmering water.
- Add the chocolate and let it melt, stirring occasionally, until smooth.

IV. Coat the Bars in Chocolate
- Take the frozen date-peanut butter mixture out of the freezer and cut it into 10 bars using a sharp knife.
- While still frozen, dip each bar into the melted chocolate until fully coated. Work quickly, as the chocolate will set fast.
- Optionally, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the chocolate-covered bars while the chocolate is still soft.
- Let the chocolate set fully before serving.
